Pitfalls in Sand (a post for a friend)

I'm posting this for my very great friend Chad.
It's a rather selective poem and you really had to be there to understand where the inspiration for this piece came from....this poem is a phishy one... ;-)
Regardless, Chad is by far one of the brightest stars in the sky and I am truly honored to be his friend.

Pitfalls in Sand

by Chad Galactic

The beauty you can taste it, you can see it
Always somewhere to go and always someone to go with
Sparkles and glitter, like sirens draw you closer
The best of them can be captured in a poster
On the move, it is time to go
Keep driving faster into the blinding snow
People smiling, dancing and grooving
The entire experience is oh so soothing
Two in the front and your crew in the back
Keep the train moving, never jumping the track
East to west and back again
It becomes your life, your best friend
Here we are, so many people to see
Pushing so much vibe, like you’re on a shopping spree
Passion and love, time and money
It’s so compulsive that it begins to seem funny
With or without you, it goes on and on
You keep on going, following the rising sun
Can’t miss a moment, or even a note
What if they play the song about the disco robot goat
Is it a dream of princes and queens
Floating and swirling, swimming up stream?
Hard to tell if it’s a blessing echoing down the hall
Do I really want to be king of them all?
Capes glitter, sweat and blood
I’d walk twenty miles to sleep and dance in the mud
Twisted and tangled, the millionth disciple to four
Convinced you’re enlightened and that they opened the door
The music takes you further than you thought you could go
Massaging your light and kissing your soul
The voice in your head tells you to follow us
Wondering blindly, the life you had left in the dust
Your mind is melting, you’re in total awe
Busting out moves, there doing things that you never saw
Your high exceeds your aerobic ability
The human disco ball experiment for all your world to see
Impossible to get out, it’s no longer your call
One pull of this magic carpet and all the golden eggs could easily fall
So far in, there is nothing you can do
You would trade your life to follow the musical zoo
The show is over, the longest sustained note will always end
Now were to go, looking for home, always thinking about your long lost friends
Miracled in and miracled out
Even at the end, you can’t explain what it is all about

~*Thanks darling Galactic for the beautiful vibe you emanate!

absent- but not gone
my brain rambles
socially withdrawn
don't feel igored
or call me stupid
Just get my attention,
bring my brain to the present
this is where it's at
because here with you
these thaughts won't stew
though times were great
the past is gray
I'll fill the blanks
another day

...

The glue wasn't dry
I shouldn't have let you near it
It was torn out and stomped on and broken
And the glue wasn't dry
You said you'd be careful, you said it was safe
I believed you
Liar
You tossed it aside
Now it's missing pieces
And the glue won't dry

life is the unfound poetry

well i sat and comtemplated on death and figured it was enevitable then i said i can slowly die with with poison and though that was a little melodramatic then i said i can kill myself subconsiciously but that is absurd then i said the only way to do it the american way to be a great writer and drink and work myself to death where i will be remembered as a great bar patron and a skilled worker and be a new generation of writer never discovered never known and greatly appreciated well like the Jack London of our time which highly disappointed me in my youth becauseof his views of racism but that was his era being and translucent black man with dark skin is utterly impossible but I have seemed to survive I have lived fst and lived slow tried colleg and found it to a drab place for great minds it is for those who want to please there parents my parents are please that i am not a drug addict or a thug or a homeless rag that soaks up society i love my life in every which way i live i am a romantic i love the classics such as i call them know like famed walter dean myers well know i have to make my own way path the wat of unpriveleged harvard or community college writings as i wish i had who writes drunk and tries to put across meaning for others to understand only the greats i thank liz and smiley for these scatterings of thought i am chose to express but i must take my leave as alwasy and leave you with a much ado and farewell which i have solen to day good bye and hope all who read this appreciate and please comment becasue i watn a muse and the muse we have now are each other

birth

i was given something that gave me life
i breathed a breath that tasted sweeter than all fruits
i smelled like a fragrance like no other
my heart broke result to the wave it left in my blood
tidals waves crashed my soul
i was shipwrecked left with a momnet of paradise
my advice to those in endure this run away
stay far away as you can
my knees are week i can no longet stand
i even declined the name man

new days

It started like a warm summer day until, your nose tuched the morning air
Thoughts of beginnings raced through my head
things like acorns,leafs,and new branches
this was an ending to begin and a beginning to an end
i intende dto start and started to intend
life simply i analyzed to certain terms
some things brought difficulty
but nature rose sun shiuned moon gleamed night bloomed
earth was showing mad love
mind metamorphed spirit rose
rising to astral plane i went through portals
sled through demensions
thoughts now destined as i perched on mountains high above
exploring possiblities unknown
i realized above my temple jewels never seen glimmering like aligned planetary positions
now being under transformation soul cleansed
to clarity demons physical not sparing through devils
i pierce with stares spoke a constant double edge prophecy
relived revieled revelations eye awakened to apply realization

Westbound on Route 70, 31 December 2005 10pm

"this road reminds me of leaving my mom..."

Crack addicts in shell stations.
An army of automobiles all turning right
So an empty city can watch the "small" ball drop.
Walking in to an ice age of eyes
Like a movie about a bad party
Or a bad dream
Gaudy white christmas tree and ecstacy
All that's missing is shrimp cocktail and party hats...
nope, got them too

"reminds me of leaving my mom..."

More crack addicts from shell stations hitching rides to Cinnaminson
To meet italian boyfriends with dope
More shrimp cocktail, noise makers
Old men lighting off rockets in the middle of a downtown city block
Just to watch the "small" ball drop
Just because they survived another Three Hundred Sixty Five

"Reminds me of leaving my mom..."

Off The Top of My Head

I stood on the shore and listened to the water splash gently against the broken pieces of concrete that had been placed there by hands that were not my own.
I looked out across a vast landscape of liquid and clouds and thought of all the things that didn't belong to me.
Things that were borrowed or bought, second hand, in an attempt to find an era; a place in time that was not now.
I looked down, through the brackish water and saw pebbles brought down stream with the current.
Where the river meets the bay, that's where you can find me. Locked away in a lonesome floating cottage, child and pen in hand.
Humming a tune that has been stolen from another place in time, a house borrowed, second hand, from an era that is not mine.

UNTITLED

I keep finding myself in the same place, smoking the same cigarettes, talking about the same things with the same people. Bored. Loneliness in numbers. Even a crowd can't kill this. Still coughing up gunk and nicotine, spitting yellow. Still reading 12 books, not understanding a word. Re-reading the same lines, forgetting where I left off. Still not undertstanding. Once again, the same conversation. Bullshit theories and cosmic nonsense. We're not making any sense but we're both pretending we understand. "What were we talking about?" Picking up where we left off. "Time travel," "AH, YES! It is a state of mind." "Well, the laws of physics state..." and on we go, until the coffee goes cold or cigarettes become stale. Even a crowd can't kill us.

Falling Back

I fear my musings this eve
shall be the death of me.
So before they are
presented to me,
I shall retire in a haze unlike one
I have known.
And inspite of everything I have
known, I will thus be unsure.

And have you noted in the
time you have doted that inspite and
inspire are but two figs in the
mire and so close in relation that they invite
all sorts of damnation and anything else that
might disarm or illusion you so?

Pining is nine tenths of Murphy's law of love

I see all this love. All this devotion and it makes me want to wretch.
Oft times, I am content (in the very least) with that which I have
obtained. But it isn't the same. It isn't the same as getting so
wound you're bound to spew. To breathe, sigh, live and die for that
one subtle moment of orgasmic recognition.
At first, a flicker in his eye, a tug pulling rank on the corners of his lips.
Then, a hand, misplaced in its rightful position on a limb curving into temptation.
Unto the blissful explosion of life as I knew it, an enraptured kiss followed by
complete and utter fulfillment.
Now exiled, the tumbling of his words would suffice. This alone my indulgence.
Letters slipping together, contorting until wrapped in melodic union.
Not unlike legs, limbs and minds on a night seared into my soul.
Embedded in my spirit, more engrained than any genetic code that he might have spoken of.
Forsaking all convenience I willfully abandoned comfort for boundless love.
And now I am bound, forsaken by the very fate which willed me to pursue beyond comfort.
This love, was not mine to savor nor his to return.

first snow

the first snow cuts through me
an unexpected change of events
calls for an unexpected change of my mind
i look now for someone who understands me
someone who bathes in my mind

I love to hate my Love

i would have cut my skin clean off
to get your essence off of me
a mild cleanser
never did the trick
nor the clorox bleach in the closet
a long couple of months passed
i still won't let you see me
the caress i feel of you against me
it doesn't wash off
it never will
i can't fade the moments
Me won't let Me
you on me
bloody, messy romance
it clings to me, Always
pain from you stirs my heart's lust
you tortured my love, now i torture yours
we share the same broken, black heart
the pain we put each other through
i'm in love with only You
